The Simons Observatory is an ambitious project that aims to unravel the mysteries of our universe and shed light on its origin and evolution. It is the world's largest cosmology collaboration, bringing together over 270 scientists, engineers, and technologists from 35 institutions worldwide. Located on Cerro Toco mountain in the Atacama desert region of Chile, the Observatory is being built at an altitude of 17,000 ft, one of the driest and most rugged places on Earth.

It will consist of the existing Atacama Cosmology Telescope, The Simons Array, and four new instruments, including three half-meter Small Aperture Telescopes (SATs) and a six-meter Large Aperture Telescope (LAT). Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the Simons Observatory will measure the temperature and polarization anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background across six frequency bands, providing unprecedented insight into the fundamental physical processes that have shaped our universe since its inception. With an array of 60,000 detectors, the Observatory will surpass all other CMB experiments combined.

Operating at a temperature of 0. 1 Kelvin, its superconducting detectors offer exceptional precision and resolution with minimal noise. Scheduled to commence its five-year observing campaign in late 2022, the Simons Observatory is poised to revolutionize our understanding of the cosmos
