Simon Whaley is an author, writer and photographer based in Shropshire, in the Welsh Borders. His work spans cosy crime fiction, nonfiction books, British travel writing, walking features and general-interest magazine articles. He is the author of the Marquess of Mortiforde Mystery series, which includes Blooming Murder, Foraging for Murder and Flaming Murder, the series’ third novel. His books also include the bestselling One Hundred Ways for a Dog to Train Its Human.


Whaley has written several hundred magazine features, and his photography often accompanies his articles and books. His images have also been used by calendar companies and national newspapers. As “Snapper Simon,” he shares photographs through BBC WeatherWatchers; some appear on national weather forecasts, while others are used regionally.
