About Simoshi
Simoshi is a social enterprise registered in Uganda, dedicated to improving the livelihoods of children and their families in the country. They focus on empowering low-income individuals, especially women and children, by providing them with cleaner and more efficient cooking technology. Simoshi's energy efficient project, linked to carbon finance, brings environmentally friendly cooking solutions to these communities.
Through the use of institutional improved cook stoves (IICS), Simoshi enables participating schools to recycle a percentage of the carbon credit returns. This allows them to invest in the schools by providing repayment plans, free annual maintenance, staff training, and educational campaigns on the environment and climate change. Simoshi's sustainable business model not only promotes sustainability but also targets the most vulnerable population - children.
By delivering carbon credits, Simoshi provides additional environmental and social benefits to the schools. Their value proposition goes beyond sustainability, as they offer affordable IICS options for schools, thanks to the daily emission reductions achieved through their use.
Simoshi works hand in hand with schools and institutions, optimizing its approach to bring positive impacts to kitchen environments, from energy efficiency and infrastructure to hygiene and food nutrition. They are agile and responsive, continuously addressing systemic issues and forming partnerships that add value and enhance the relationship of trust with participating schools.
Simoshi proudly collaborates with partners such as Kampala Capital City Authority and Energy4Impact to fulfill their mission. With their commitment and expertise, Simoshi strives to create a sustainable future for Ugandan children and their communities.
