SindSistema-RJ, headquartered in Cinelândia, Rio de Janeiro, is a key representation body for the penitentiary system in the state, specifically catering to the rights and welfare of penitentiary inspectors, now known as police penal officers. The organization succeeded the Associação dos Servidores do Sistema Penitenciário do Rio de Janeiro to protect and advocate for its members' legal, economic, and moral interests. SindSistema-RJ offers various services, including legal assistance, funeral aid, and additional benefits aimed at enhancing the quality of life for its members.
Since its reestablishment in 2015, the current leadership has achieved significant victories, such as the reacquisition of the House of Rest on Ilha Grande and critical legislative successes like the promulgation of Constitutional Amendment 77/2020.
