About Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia
The Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia (National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia) carries on a musical tradition that dates back to 1846 when it was created as the flagship ensemble of the National Academy of Music. With the aim of promoting and encouraging the enjoyment of symphonic music in the country, the orchestra performs over 70 concerts annually. These include seasonal programs, educational initiatives, collaborations in opera, ballet, and zarzuela productions, as well as performances by its chamber groups and sacred music in churches and unconventional venues.
The OSNC safeguards the national symphonic musical heritage and fosters the work of contemporary Colombian composers. They also offer various services and initiatives such as competitions, anniversary celebrations, and support for niche musical projects.
