Sinterklaas Parkstad

Sinterklaas Parkstad is an independent, volunteer-run, nonprofit organization that brings the Dutch Sinterklaas celebration to Parkstad, with a particular focus on the municipality of Brunssum. For more than 25 years, its team of over 45 volunteers has welcomed Sinterklaas and his companions, attracting more than 2,000 visitors each year and visiting seven schools.

The organization’s central event is the annual official arrival in Brunssum, featuring Sinterklaas, his helpers, pepernoten and family entertainment. It also arranges visits to schools, businesses, associations and private homes, which can be booked for events and celebrations. Through its Sint voor ieder kind initiative, Sinterklaas Parkstad aims to ensure that children in the region who need support can receive a visit from Sinterklaas; families can apply discreetly, and others can contribute as donors.

The organization shares event updates and news on its website and welcomes enquiries about bookings, the Brunssum arrival and its family support initiative. It donates part of its proceeds to Stichting Nienoo.
