Sioux Falls Fire Rescue (SFFR) is a nationally accredited department with over 200 members and 12 strategically placed fire stations throughout the city. While their main mission is to respond to fires, SFFR also plays a crucial role in emergency medical services, with over half of their emergency responses being medical calls. They have developed one of the largest Public Access Defibrillator programs in the country and regularly provide CPR classes to the community.

In recognition of their outstanding service, SFFR was presented with an ISO Class 1 designation, which is only given to fire departments in the United States that meet the highest standards of response capabilities. The department is organized into various divisions, including Administration, Operations, and Professional Standards/EMS, all of which work together to ensure the safety and well-being of the city's residents.
