About Sahel Institute of Research and Development
SIRD, or the Sahelian Institute for Research and Development, is a dynamic organization dedicated to advancing climate resilience and sustainable agricultural practices in West Africa. In collaboration with notable partners such as the Alliance Bioversity and CIAT, SIRD hosts a range of workshops and initiatives focused on addressing the complex interconnections surrounding climate security and food systems.
In 2023, SIRD established a significant partnership with the McKnight Foundation, aimed at enhancing coordination within the Community of Practice for Resilient Food Systems (CRFS), emphasizing the pivotal role of community engagement in agricultural development. Their recent activities include hosting technical workshops and collaborative project writing sessions, aimed at increasing the competitiveness of young entrepreneurs and women in the seed sector of Mali.
Through these efforts, SIRD not only contributes to local agricultural innovation but also strengthens the resilience of food systems in the Sahel, fulfilling its mission to facilitate sustainable development in vulnerable regions.
