SISU

AAV SISU is Almelo’s athletics club, founded on 14 March 1941. Its name comes from a Finnish expression associated with perseverance, determination and keeping going—values that continue to guide the club. With more than 300 members, SISU has grown into Almelo’s largest athletics association and offers a welcoming community for people with a range of sporting interests and abilities.

Members can train in running across different distances, as well as track and field disciplines including long jump, high jump, javelin, shot put and discus. The club has its own athletics track and provides information about training days, competitions and membership. Its activities also include G-athletics and frame running. Children interested in athletics can try four free training sessions before deciding whether to join.

SISU also organizes events throughout the year, including the Almelo Allee Run and annual club championships, and shares competition news and club records. The association welcomes volunteers and offers opportunities to support its activities.
