Skate Chicago

Skate Chicago is an annual recreational street-skating event that brings inline and roller skaters together to socialize and explore the city. The 2025 gathering runs from August 14 to 17 and is described as Chicago’s biggest skate event, welcoming participants from around the world. Its free, four-day program includes guided group skates of varying distances, with routes themed around Chicago’s history, neighborhoods, and local culture. Activities include evening and morning city skates, a long North Side route, post-skate meetups, and a sunset beach party along the lakefront.

Participation requires advance registration, a signed waiver, and a wristband. Helmets are mandatory, and protective gear is recommended. Organizers emphasize safe, cooperative skating on city streets, keeping the group together and making the experience social rather than competitive. The event also offers official 2025 commemorative shirts through online ordering. Daley Plaza serves as the meeting point for the skates, while the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel hosts the registration table. Live location updates are shared through the event’s Instagram story.
