SKB är en kooperativ hyresrättsförening med nära 94 000 medlemmar. Med 8 900 lägenheter i huvudstaden och sju närliggande kommuner är SKB den största privata hyresrättsaktören i Stockholm. Föreningen bygger och förvaltar bostäder som hyrs ut till medlemmarna i form av kooperativa hyresrätter. SKB är i sin storlek och upplåtelseform, en unik verksamhet som skapar variation på bostadsmarknaden. Lägenheterna, uppförda från 1917 till idag, förmedlas efter turordningsprincip och föreningen är öppen för alla. Den verkställande organisationen med över 140 medarbetare drivs på företagsmässiga villkor som en ekonomisk förening.
