Skilled Trades Ontario, an agency of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development, is dedicated to apprenticeship and skilled trades certification in Ontario. Established under the Building Opportunities in the Skilled Trades Act, 2021, our goal is to provide easier access to services for skilled trades professionals, promote careers in the skilled trades, and address the labor shortage in Ontario. Our responsibilities include establishing apprenticeship programs, assessing experience and qualifications, issuing Certificates of Qualification, renewing Certificates of Qualification, and maintaining a Public Register of authorized tradespeople.

We also conduct research on apprenticeships and the trades. With a focus on high standards, clear pathways, and cutting-edge education and certification, we strive to support Ontario's economic success by leading standards in the trades.
