SKIP, or the Union of Librarians and Information Workers of the Czech Republic, serves as the largest professional organization in the country for librarians and libraries, boasting over 2,060 members, including more than 980 institutions. This dynamic organization champions the rights of citizens to equitable access to information and organizes a plethora of media events to promote library services.

SKIP’s initiatives include supporting educational, cultural, and community activities within libraries, enhancing literacy, and fostering collaboration between libraries and other partners. Among the key projects are annual events such as March—Month of Readers, the Night with Andersen, and the Week of Libraries, which actively engage tens of thousands of children. SKIP also provides valuable resources for library staff training, ensuring ongoing professional development.
