SkiRandoDay

ESF Pyrénées is part of the French Ski School network, whose 17,000 instructors share a commitment to making the mountains accessible, welcoming and sustainable. Its SkiRandoDay experience introduces participants to ski touring alongside an ESF instructor, combining an adventure away from marked trails with practical guidance for enjoying the mountains more safely. The three-hour session is designed for small groups of up to four people and is aimed at skiers who can descend a red run using parallel turns.

The program covers mountain conditions, slope exposure, temperature changes, avalanche bulletins and essential safety equipment. Participants learn basic uphill movement and turning techniques, as well as how to alert rescuers and use a transceiver and GPS positions in an emergency. ESF provides a safety kit with a backpack, transceiver, shovel and probe; participants bring touring skis, skins, water and a snack. Advance equipment rental reservations are recommended.

SkiRandoDay is offered through participating ESF schools across destinations in the Pyrenees.
