Slate is a cloud bookkeeping system for self-employed people and small businesses in Israel. It issues invoices, receipts and quotes, runs the periodic VAT report, and exports the books in the Tax Authority's Open Format for the accountant.

Compliance is built in rather than left to the user. Every document gets a running number locked on the server, is digitally signed at the moment of issue, and cannot be edited or deleted afterwards. A correction goes through a credit note. Tax invoices above the Israel Invoice threshold get an allocation number requested automatically, and a failed request never blocks the issue. Every document carries a QR code linking to a public page where a customer or an accountant can verify the signature without an account.

The system runs in the browser on a computer or a phone, with nothing to install and nothing to download from an app store. The interface exists in full in Hebrew and in English, and switching language flips the layout, the forms, the error messages and the document names.

The free plan is the whole product: unlimited documents, unlimited businesses, digital signing, the Israel Invoice connection, VAT reports and Open Format export, with no credit card at registration. Sequential numbering, signing, retention and export are what the law requires of every dealer, including one issuing three invoices a month, so they do not sit behind a paid tier. Servers and data are in the European Union, and the books can be exported at any time.
