Slatinští stárci

Slatinští stárci z.s. is a registered association based in Brno-Slatina, established in 2006 to support and develop cultural life in the district. Its central mission is to preserve local folklore and organize the Traditional Slatina Feast, one of the area’s most significant cultural events. The annual celebration features folk costumes, processions, traditional music and dancing, and activities for families and visitors. The association works with the Slatina district council and local participants, including the Slatina youth folk group, to bring the festivities to life.

The feast tradition in Slatina dates back to 1903 and was revived in 1977 after a pause. The association also shares the history of the celebrations through its online archive of photographs and historical information. Alongside the main feast, its activities include other community and folklore events, such as a dulcimer-music gathering and Fašank celebrations. Slatinští stárci welcomes people of different ages and levels of involvement, from those who dance in traditional dress to volunteers who help sustain local customs.
