The Slipevic family, one of the oldest lineages in the surrounding area of Gacko, has a rich heritage that dates back to the 14th century. This illustrious family, which has maintained its traditions through the ages, embraces a profound respect for its ancestors and a strong sense of identity. The Slipevic family celebrates its roots in Herzegovina, with descendants who have spread across Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, and around the globe.
Significant family gatherings, although rare, have sparked motivation for a large reunion; notably, the publication of Dusanka Slipevic Lesov's book "Origins and Family Tree of the Slipevic Family" in 2011 marked a pivotal moment. This connection was felt anew during the reopening of the church dedicated to St. Sava in 2012. Today, the family seeks to gather in Samobor to honor their ancestors and foster connections among the over a thousand descendants, committed to preserving their shared history for future generations.
