About SMART Factories
SMART Factories is a brand that focuses on improving working conditions and promoting labor and environmental standards in Myanmar's textile, clothing, and footwear industries. The enterprise advisory unit of the MADE The SMART Factories Programme, SMART Factories is funded by the European Union and co-funded by private sector partners, including retailers and factories. The main goal of SMART Factories is to build capacities across the industry, facilitating workshops, seminars, and training programs.
They provide guidance on environmental impact and social impact when sourcing for brands and retailers in the footwear and apparel industry. Additionally, they offer resources such as reports, publications, and information on laws and regulations. MADE, the Multi-Stakeholder Alliance for Decent Employment, supports SMART Factories and fosters cooperation between international supply chain actors in Europe and Myanmar.
Their activities include factory assessments, advisory support for managers and workers, and facilitating dialogue between workers and employers. Overall, SMART Factories is dedicated to creating sustainable practices and improving working conditions in the garment and textile sector, ensuring a brighter future for the industry
