SMC Albatros Ellerau e.V. is a nonprofit, youth-focused model-building club based in Ellerau, about 20 kilometres north of Hamburg. For more than four decades, it has introduced young people to the creative hobby of building and operating models, while welcoming participants of different ages. Its main focus is ship modelling, with members creating and running model ferries, freighters, tugboats, rescue craft, naval vessels, motorboats and sailing boats. The club also supports model cars and aircraft, and has a helicopter group that meets on Mondays to fly in a nearby sports hall.

Volunteer group leaders provide supervised model-building sessions in the club’s workshop at the Bürgerhaus on Højerweg. Sessions are held on four days each week, with both afternoon and Thursday morning hours. Members can also operate their models on the club’s boating pond beside the Ellerau outdoor swimming pool. The club shares construction guides, model galleries, a newsletter and information about meetings and events.
