Snarky Puppy is a dynamic jazz and funk collective founded in 2004 by bassist and composer Michael League. Initially emerging from the University of North Texas's Jazz Studies program, the band has grown to include up to 25 talented members, each contributing their unique musical background. With diverse influences from around the globe, Snarky Puppy blends elements of black and white American music culture, creating a sound that transcends traditional genre categories.
The band has received critical acclaim, earning five Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, and has captivated audiences with their live performances, boasting over 1,500 concerts across six continents. Their music stands out for its infectious energy and collaborative spirit, reflecting a commitment to artistic growth and innovation. In addition to their recordings, Snarky Puppy operates the indie label GroundUP Music, which showcases a variety of artists and hosts the annual GroundUP Music Festival, promoting music education and outreach through their foundation
