Strategies for Northern Development (SND) is a dedicated non-governmental organization focused on empowering nomadic pastoralist communities in Northern Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. Established in 2007, SND emerged from two community-based organizations aiming to address the myriad challenges faced by these communities. The organization promotes resilience and sustainable development through various programs encompassing peace building, climate justice, food security, women’s health, and humanitarian assistance.

SND's initiatives include enhancing governance structures, ensuring access to reproductive and maternal health services, and implementing livelihood programs that boost food security and economic independence. Their work in the domains of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) demonstrates a commitment to improving community health. With over 50 completed projects and significant outreach to more than one million people, SND continues to invest in local institutions to ensure sustainable, accountable development. Their vision is a resilient society where pastoralist communities thrive while maintaining their dignity and autonomy.
