Soaring Spirits

Soaring Spirits International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that widowed people feel supported, connected, and understood as they navigate life after the death of a spouse or partner. Its approach combines community, education, compassion, inclusion, and practical resources, recognizing that each person’s experience of grief is different. The organization also supports children, families, and the wider networks around widowed people, while helping professionals respond to grief with greater knowledge and care.

Programs include Camp Widow events, regional social groups, a 24/7 online community called Widowed Village, one-to-one email pen pals, and the Widow’s Voice blog, featuring personal stories by widowed writers. Soaring Spirits also provides resources for people who are newly widowed, outreach tools for allies, and grief literacy training and certification for professionals. Through its Public Health Initiative, the organization works with partners to foster more informed, compassionate responses to grief in communities and institutions. Its services are offered through virtual and in-person programs, with a focus on connection, validation, resilience, and helping widowed people find renewed meaning and hope.
