SoCal CAN

SoCal CAN is a regional network working to expand college access, affordability, and completion for low-income, first-generation, and underserved students across Southern California. For 20 years, the organization has brought community organizations and partners together to advance student-centered solutions, support college-going efforts, and address barriers across the education system. Its work includes financial aid application support, policy advocacy, campaigns and initiatives, and training, resources, and professional development for community-based organization staff.

SoCal CAN also provides technical assistance to help organizations implement programs and policies, build organizational capacity, use data, and coordinate their efforts. The network’s priorities include equitable access and enrollment, college affordability, students’ basic needs, college completion, and economic mobility. It highlights the needs of students living in public housing, adult and returning learners, students from immigrant and mixed-status families, and LGBTQIA+ students.

Together with member organizations, SoCal CAN has helped secure nearly $1 billion in state investments for student aid, basic needs, and student support, while advocating for policies that help more students access and complete college
