Sochai

The Social Changemakers and Innovators (SOCHAI) is a youth-led nonprofit organization founded in 2017 to improve the health, nutrition, and socio-economic well-being of women, children, and girls in Nepal. Its community-centered approach combines education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth leadership to address malnutrition and related challenges, with a goal of contributing to Zero Hunger by 2030.

SOCHAI develops practical learning tools and delivers programs for communities, schools, and health settings. Its wearable education products include Nutribeads, which help caregivers learn about feeding children during the first two years of life; Redcycle, which supports menstrual-cycle tracking and communication; and an Iron Folic Acid bracelet that promotes weekly supplementation among adolescents to help prevent anemia. Programs include youth volunteer recruitment and training, nutrition bootcamps, counseling for pregnant and lactating mothers, skills development in health, nutrition, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, and advocacy informed by research. SOCHAI also mobilizes communities around food security, climate, and sexual and reproductive health, and provides emergency nutrition assessments, relief, and awareness activities.
