The Chilean Astronomical Society (SOCHIAS) is a nonprofit organization representing Chile’s community of astronomers before national and international bodies. Its purpose is to advance astronomy by supporting research, education, and public outreach, while safeguarding the interests and rights of astronomers in Chile. Rather than selling commercial products, SOCHIAS provides professional, educational, and community resources for its members and the wider public.
