About SocialBoost
SocialBoost is a Ukrainian civic tech NGO that is dedicated to developing tech solutions with a social impact. They believe that efficient e-services are just as important as fair laws and good infrastructure. The organization operates in three key areas.
Firstly, they create impactful e-democracy, e-governance, and open data projects for ministries, cities, and communities. Secondly, they build ecosystems for impact startups, teaching them how to create nationwide IT solutions through niche hackathons, incubation programs, and camps. Lastly, SocialBoost offers consulting services to governments and non-profits, providing recommendations that strengthen the tech and impact components of international organizations.
Their impressive portfolio includes 7 nationwide projects that range from IT-platforms for amalgamated communities and open data incubators to civic tech centers and real-time public opinion polling systems. These projects have engaged over 5. 5 million citizens in the country's development, raised $2.
5 million in impact investments, and involved a dedicated team of 35 managers, designers, and developers. SocialBoost's journey began in 2012 with 10 national hackathons and regional events, which led to the creation of various projects with funding support. Notable achievements include co-authoring Ukraine's open data reform and founding the 1991 Open Data Incubator with WNISEF's support.
In 2017, the civic tech community settled in the 1991 Civic Tech Center, which was opened with a grant investment of $480,000 from the Luminate fund. The team at SocialBoost is comprised of 25 individuals led by brothers DenYs and Viktor Gursky. DenYs, the head of the board, is an impact investing evangelist and open data reform advocate.
Viktor, the executive director, oversees the development of IT services for cities and communities. Their projects receive support from governmental bodies, NGOs, international funds, and businesses. Overall, SocialBoost's mission is to promote the synergy between civil society, government, and the startup community to create innovative tech solutions that address national challenges and contribute to the development of Ukraine's economy
