The Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment in Haryana operates under the Government of Haryana, focusing on the welfare and rehabilitation of socially underprivileged citizens. Established in 1992 following the separation from the Social Welfare Department, the directorate is dedicated to implementing various schemes that cater to the needs of senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and minority communities.
Among the services offered are social security pension schemes, drug de-addiction and rehabilitation programs, and support for the elderly through the Samarth Vriddh SEWA Ashram Scheme. The directorate also manages accessibility initiatives, including the provision of aids and appliances for persons with disabilities. They offer resources like the Right to Information (RTI) and grievance redressal mechanisms, ensuring accountability and support within their services.
By fostering a more inclusive society, the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment plays a critical role in ensuring that vulnerable populations in Haryana receive the care, protection, and resources they need to thrive.
