Société D'histoire De Charlesbourg

The Société d’histoire et de généalogie de Charlesbourg is a community organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history, heritage, and family stories of Charlesbourg, Québec. Based at Maison Éphraïm-Bédard, part of Québec’s heritage house network, it welcomes people interested in local history and genealogy. The society offers research assistance by appointment and operates a genealogy centre on Tuesday afternoons, with additional regular opening hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Its activities include conferences, exhibitions, cultural visits, cemetery visits, and other heritage events. Visitors can explore the permanent exhibition “Charlesbourg en miniatures,” featuring models of historic buildings, as well as displays on local subjects. The society also publishes the bulletin Le Charlesbourgeois, historical material, and books, including works on Charlesbourg’s residents and the Saint-Charles-Borromée cemetery. Members can access selected bulletin issues in digital format. Through its archives, publications, public programming, and community partnerships, the organization helps residents and visitors discover Charlesbourg’s built heritage and family history, and encourages them to share their research and discoveries.
