Socotab

Socotab (Société Commerciale de Tabac) is a leading brand specializing in Oriental tobaccos. Established in 1923 in Antwerp, Belgium, Socotab initially exported Russian Sukhumi tobaccos to France and the USA. Over the years, they expanded their business to Turkey, Greece, North Macedonia, and Bulgaria.

Today, Socotab is one of the world's top suppliers of quality, compliant Oriental tobacco to major cigarette manufacturers. Socotab works with more than 35,000 specialized farmers who have growing contracts in the classical Oriental growing regions. These farmers cultivate the highest quality Oriental tobacco under specific conditions, resulting in the unique aroma and smaller leaf size that distinguish Oriental tobacco.

Socotab's operations involve careful processes, from seedbed preparation to transplanting, growing, harvesting, curing, and baling. Their dedicated teams of skilled agronomists and field technicians closely monitor and assess the crops. Once the tobacco is received, Socotab conducts thorough quality checks before processing and packing the tobacco in state-of-the-art factories.

They maintain the highest standards of quality control through in-house laboratories and dedicated storage facilities. Socotab also takes pride in its social responsibility. As a member of the Universal Leaf Tobacco family, they adhere to sustainability and supply chain integrity policies.

They actively participate in programs that support environmental protection, ethical business practices, and employee well-being. Socotab's commitment is reinforced by ISO 14001 certifications for their processing facilities, ensuring environmentally friendly operations
