SOFER Initiative is a registered community-based NGO that aims to raise environmental awareness and inspire positive attitudinal change among the youth and the general public. Since its establishment in November 2010, SOFER has engaged over 400 volunteers across several states in Nigeria to execute various environmental activities and community development projects.

The organization focuses on education, advocacy, and practical opportunities to foster behavioral change. SOFER's vision is to raise a generation of environmentally conscious individuals who actively develop and sustain the earth. Their mission is to use innovative strategies to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste, while also promoting biodiversity and fostering a positive attitude towards the environment.

SOFER's objectives include promoting environmental protection and restoration, supporting policies for sustainable development, providing waste management systems, developing youth volunteerism, addressing marine plastic challenges, promoting environmentally friendly activities, changing perceptions towards the environment, and improving civil society participation in environmental sustainability.

Led by a dedicated team of individuals, including founder Emmanuel Sofa and project manager Joshua Nathaniel, SOFER Initiative collaborates with partners and sponsors to achieve their goals. Based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, the organization welcomes inquiries and encourages individuals to join their cause.
