About Sofora
Sofora is a New York City-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting equal access to quality education and rural development in Africa. The word Sofora means unity, togetherness, and teamwork in the West African language of Jola. Their mission is to collaborate with the communities they serve in supporting youth education and rural development.
Sofora believes that every child has the right to quality education and strives to make learning opportunities available to all. By working closely with existing schools and communities, they address immediate needs such as books and supplies to increase the number of rural girls and boys who complete primary and high school education. Additionally, Sofora focuses on rural development projects, starting with providing clean drinking water in Sutusinjang Village in The Gambia, West Africa.
They also support initiatives like women's gardens, market squares, and medical clinics. Together, Sofora aims to empower women and improve educational opportunities for children in rural communities. Donations of any amount are welcome to support their impactful projects.
