About Soft Skull Press
Soft Skull is an independent press that originated in New York in 1992. It all started when Sander Hicks, a student who worked at Kinko's, began photocopying his writing, binding it into books, and sharing them with friends. Over the past 25 years, Soft Skull has published an impressive array of works by esteemed authors such as Eileen Myles, Maggie Nelson, Noam Chomsky, Lydia Millet, Alain Mabanckou, and many others.
Their books have received numerous accolades, including Lambda Literary Awards, the Quill Award, and the Arthur C. Clarke Award for Science Fiction. They have also been finalists for the Believer Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Soft Skull aims to offer a sanctuary from mainstream culture and conventional thinking, providing readers with thought-provoking and alternative perspectives.
