About The Carpentries
Software Carpentry is a volunteer project that aims to teach researchers the fundamental computing skills they need to increase their productivity and efficiency. Since 1998, their dedicated team of volunteer instructors has conducted numerous events, benefiting over 34,000 researchers to date. All of the lesson materials provided by Software Carpentry are freely reusable under the Creative Commons - Attribution license.
The project is now a part of The Carpentries, after merging with Data Carpentry, and is supported by the generous contributions of member organizations and the hard work of volunteers. They offer various levels of institutional engagement and provide opportunities for individuals to participate in workshops, engage in conversations via email, newsletters, blogs, and social media. As an open-source project, Software Carpentry relies on volunteers to create their lessons.
Their commitment to teaching basic computing skills makes them an invaluable resource for researchers seeking to improve their productivity
