Southern Oregon Historical Society, located in Medford, OR, is dedicated to bringing history to life through collecting, preserving, and sharing the stories and artifacts of the region's past. Founded in 1946, the Society has been committed to honoring and educating generations to come about the rich history of Southern Oregon. With a devoted Board of Trustees, limited part-time staff, and a team of enthusiastic volunteers, SOHS operates various programs and maintains key historical sites, such as the Beekman House, Beekman Bank, U.
S. Hotel, and Catholic Rectory in Jacksonville. Additionally, they oversee the historic Hanley Farm, a 37-acre Century Farm that offers a unique glimpse into pioneer and mid-20th century agricultural life.
The Society's collection features a diverse range of artifacts, including baskets, tools, letters, journals, and even fire trucks. While limited museum space prevents on-site display, their comprehensive online catalog provides images and information about many of these remarkable items.
