Soku-Dojo

Soku-Dojo is a karate and traditional self-defense dojo based in Wesselburen, Germany. Founded on January 10, 1996, by Sensei Michael Ackermann, the dojo shares the experience of its martial arts practitioners with people seeking both physical training and mental development. Its approach reflects the broader Japanese concept of Budo, which encompasses more than physical conditioning and includes strengthening the mind.

The dojo has been independent of any martial arts association since late 2005. Its kata are drawn from Shotokan karate, with a connection to the teachings of Hirokazu Kanazawa. The Soku-Dojo website introduces karate history and terminology, and provides information and videos about kata.
