Solar Materials is a pioneering brand based in Magdeburg that specializes in the recycling of solar modules. Our mission is to contribute to a greener energy supply through photovoltaic technology. By implementing our innovative recycling process, we close the resource cycle of solar modules, making a valuable contribution to the improvement of resource efficiency and CO2 balance.

Solar modules contain various materials such as glass, aluminum, plastics, silicon, copper, and silver. Traditional recycling methods often result in the loss of functional materials like silicon and silver, which end up in landfills. However, our unique recycling process ensures the economic and energy-efficient recovery of all these valuable resources.

We also recover aluminum, which accounts for 13% of the module's mass, as well as silver (0. 07%) and copper (1%), which can be reused for various applications. Additionally, we recover plastics and purify the glass, which constitutes approximately 75% of the module's mass.

At Solar Materials, we develop technologies that enable the clean and cost-effective recycling of photovoltaic modules, without the use of environmentally harmful chemicals. Our goal is to achieve a complete recovery of all raw materials, promoting a truly sustainable solar industry. Since our establishment in June 2021, we have been making significant strides in the field of solar module recycling, including patent applications and investments from bmp Ventures AG.
