Solar do Rio

Solar do Rio is a senior residence in São Pedro do Sul, in central Portugal, set between the Vouga River and the region’s thermal baths. Its approach combines professional care, personal comfort and the restorative qualities of a peaceful natural setting. The residence provides permanent accommodation, with a carefully planned welcome and adjustment period developed in collaboration with residents’ families.

Care begins with an assessment of each resident’s needs, preferences and life history. A multidisciplinary team creates and regularly reviews personalised care plans, monitors health and wellbeing, and maintains communication with families and caregivers. Safety measures include protocols for medication and fall prevention, supported by ongoing staff training.

Residents can take part in cognitive stimulation, creative workshops, gentle exercise, gardening and social activities, with programmes designed around individual interests and abilities. Solar do Rio also connects residents with the local community through cultural events, regional outings and intergenerational encounters. In partnership with the São Pedro do Sul thermal baths, it offers rehabilitation programmes combining thermal waters with specialised therapeutic support.
