Solarpunk Pen Pals

Solarpunk Pen Pals is a free, cozy storytelling activity for two or more people, designed for ages 9 and up and lasting about an hour. It introduces solarpunk as a vision of a regenerative future shaped by community and connection with nature. Participants work in pairs to imagine life 20 years from now, using prompt cards to explore challenges and tools that could help build a better world.

They then create characters with individual character sheets, drawing on value and role cards for inspiration. Rather than acting out a roleplaying game, players write letters to one another in character, sharing details of their imagined lives and the relationship between their characters. The activity includes guided instructions, printable cards and sheets, and optional inspiration images.

Groups can finish by sharing their letters, and community stories offer examples to spark ideas. Solarpunk Pen Pals is suited to creative, collaborative sessions that encourage imaginative worldbuilding, character development, writing, and conversation about possible futures
