About SOLENAUTINNEN
SOLENAUT*INNEN is an immersive space-experience project that brings the perspective of space travel to the public through a combination of floating and large-scale visual technology. Its International Sole Spaceport paired a geodesic, 18-metre Fulldome with a warm, highly concentrated saltwater floating pool, creating a setting for 360-degree space projections while participants floated in buoyant saline solution. The experience was designed to evoke weightlessness, deep relaxation and a sense of seeing Earth from space, inspired by the Overview Effect described by astronauts.
The temporary installation was open at the Eurothermen Resort in Bad Ischl from 27 July to 25 August 2024. Each session lasted approximately 100 minutes, including around 40 minutes of floating and projections, and accommodated up to 24 participants. Guests wore waterproof protective suits, which were cleaned and disinfected after use; an attendant remained present for safety. The project used 4K, 360-degree imagery displayed by five laser-phosphor projectors, with raw saline sourced from nearby Altaussee.
