Solstrålen Thy

Solstrålen Thy is a volunteer-run association in Thisted, Denmark, operating a welcoming, alcohol- and drug-free meeting place for people who want to live without substance use. The organization also provides aftercare for people who have previously experienced addiction and is developing activities to help prevent substance misuse. Its approach is rooted in shared experience, mutual support, and the belief that people can strengthen one another’s recovery.

At the venue, visitors can take part in a relapse-prevention self-help group for people who recognize that they have difficulties with alcohol and/or drugs. The group explores different perspectives on addiction, relapse, and recovery, with the aim of supporting members’ sobriety and freedom from drugs. Participants are expected to attend unimpaired, and conversations are confidential.

Solstrålen Thy is sustained entirely by volunteers and welcomes people interested in helping or supporting its work. The meeting place is located on Skolegade in Thisted and is open throughout the week, with daytime and some evening and weekend hours. Donations and annual support memberships help fund its activities.
