About Sol y Verde
Organización Ecológica Sol y Verde is a rural grassroots project and registered non-profit located at the edge of the Guatemalan Maya Biosphere. Our mission is to serve the vulnerable communities of rural Guatemala through permaculture and bioconstruction practices. We work with local women, children, migrants, and other groups affected by eco-political tensions and the impacts of Climate Change in Central America.
By offering ecological education, community support, and practical demonstrations, we aim to restore the forest landscape, preserve indigenous cultural heritage, and promote self-sustainability. Our key actions include placemaking through bioconstruction, reforestation and agroecology, and community support and education.
Through our upcoming Ecological Education Center, we are establishing the region's first agroecology and bioconstruction community educational center to provide a safe and supportive space for locals to collaborate and learn.
