DE LA SOMME A BELLEFONTAINE

De la Somme à Bellefontaine is an association dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of people from the Somme region who were affected by the First World War. Its work focuses particularly on the events of 22 August 1914 at Bellefontaine in Belgium and the Battle of the Somme, while also documenting the 31 August 1914 events at Fontenois and the First Battle of the Marne. Through its website, the association publishes researched life stories of young people who were 20 in 1914, accounts of soldiers and families, historical articles, archival documents, photographs, bibliographies, and information about regional regiments.

It also records commemorations and memorial events in Belgium and France, including Bellefontaine, Fontenois, Maurupt-le-Montois, and Pargny-sur-Saulx. The association organizes exhibitions, visits, and commemorative gatherings, and shares updates on forthcoming events, past assemblies, supporters, and membership. Its resources include searchable articles and maps, lists of people killed or wounded, and material for collaborative research
