Sommer Rayn is an independent artist whose work celebrates whimsy, animals, and joyful storytelling. Inspired by a love of cats and time spent near the ocean, Rayn creates distinctive illustrations and paintings featuring expressive characters, serene scenes, and playful settings. Her Shadow Kitties depict dark or vividly colored cat silhouettes in varied surroundings, while her whimsical animals bring human-like personalities to fun scenes. Many characters wear Victorian-era or other vintage clothing, including fancy dresses and hats.
Rayn’s offerings also include children’s books in the Quirky Island series, with gentle, happy stories intended to comfort young readers and help them feel valued and loved. She creates custom pet portraits, imagining pets in settings or costumes tailored to each piece, and makes joyful paintings in acrylic and watercolor, often featuring the sun or rain. Cats remain a favorite subject, portrayed with expressive faces and human characteristics, while coastal inspiration and seagulls appear throughout her work.
Rayn describes each character as created with love and shares her art through her eBay store.
