In this project, co-funded by the European Union under @HorizonEU research and innovation programme, and coordinated by the Institut Pasteur, we aim to build resilience in Europe's cities during health emergencies and disasters. Our focus is on One Health research and participatory development of community-based, adapted tools for people facing vulnerabilities. Any posts reflect only the views of the project. The project is funded for 3 years (2024-2027) and combines the knowledge and research of 12 European partners, as well as input from the SoNAR-Global association. The 3 main objectives of Sonar-Cities are: · Assess the contributing factors, responses to, and experiences of vulnerable populations in prior health emergencies and disasters in 6 European cities (Vienna, Zagreb, Ljubljana, Udine, Stockholm and Groningen). This retrospective analysis will generate an assessment of current health and social needs for emergency preparedness. · Co-develop toolsets with at-risk publics, frontline responders, and urban authorities, to generate inclusive preparedness, improve health literacy and crisis communication, strengthen capacity and decision-making, and reduce risks of health emergencies and disasters in European cities. · Pilot and evaluate toolsets in six cities. All tools and methods are housed on a user-friendly platform, which also provides trainings and simulations for decision-makers and frontline responders working towards inclusive preparedness and response.
