SONIKS is an open network of ground stations that supports satellite signal reception, space education, and hands-on exploration of radio technology. Its mission is to make a free, open-source software and hardware platform available for building a network of satellite ground stations, particularly for educational use. The network page lists 155 ground stations and information on thousands of satellites.

Through the SONIKS portal, users can view and schedule observations, explore satellite and transmitter data, check satellite passes, and use tools for frequency selection. Network statistics, dashboards, a gallery, and a global map help users discover activity and results across the network. The project also provides educational resources, useful links, a quest, and a hackathon.

For beginners, SONIKS offers guidance on designing a first antenna and receiving satellite signals with a personal ground station. Its online encyclopedia shares information about amateur radio, space, satellites, and spaceflight. Community chats, a Telegram channel, and a chatbot provide ways to follow the project and connect with others.
