Sophie Bataille

Sophie Bataille is a travelling artist whose work is inspired by encounters with people, customs, places, landscapes, regions, countries and animals. She uses drawing and pictorial techniques to give form to these experiences, with a particular focus on travel sketchbooks and a wide range of creative projects. Alongside her artistic practice, Sophie shares her knowledge and sensitivity through in-person workshops and online learning.

Her offerings include online courses covering the fundamentals of watercolour and shorter thematic lessons, as well as creative sketchbook workshops held over a day and travel sketchbook courses lasting three to seven days. These activities are available while travelling, in person or from home. Sophie also develops creative projects and presents illustrated performances, travelling exhibitions, original creations, books and an animated drawing clip. Her work explores the expressive possibilities of watercolour, a medium shaped by the interaction of water, pigments and paper. Through her courses, projects and publications, she invites participants and audiences to discover artistic techniques and engage with the places and stories that inspire her.
