About Sopris Sun
The Sopris Sun is an engaging and informative nonprofit weekly newspaper located in Carbondale, Colorado. As a community newspaper, our goal is to showcase the diverse faces of Carbondale and the Roaring Fork Valley. Rather than focusing on fast-breaking news, we take an in-depth approach to stories and issues through Carbondale's unique perspective.
We rely on the support of our local community for content, advertising, and financial contributions. Founded in 2009, The Sopris Sun was created in response to the closure of the Valley Journal newspaper during the economic recession. Recognizing the need for a truly local paper, a passionate group of residents came together to fill the void.
We offer a wide range of services including news features, a community calendar, special sections, archives, obituaries, opinion letters, columns, and even an Español section. Our dedicated team consists of talented individuals in various roles including editorial, design, photography, web, and social media. Join us in celebrating the spirit of community and stay connected with Carbondale through The Sopris Sun
