A Southern Tradition Sports Center, founded in downtown Natchez, MS, in 1946, quickly became an iconic destination for outdoor and sports enthusiasts in the area. Over the years, it has established itself as a trusted provider of a wide variety of gear. In 1982, Sports Center acquired Rex Sporting Goods and merged the two stores in 1984.
In 2002, they moved to a 30,000 sq ft. remodeled Kroger grocery store on the bypass in Natchez. Moreover, in 2005, Rex Sporting Goods transformed into Rex Team Sports, catering to team sports in high schools and colleges across Mississippi.
Building on their success, Sports Center expanded and opened another large sporting goods store in Starkville, MS, as well as a fashionable collegiate wear store called Maroon & Co., located nearby Mississippi State University. Today, Sports Center is a third-generation, family-owned business offering top brands for all sporting activities. Through their website, Southern Professional Gear (soprogear.
com), launched in 2017, they now share their expertise and provide quality products from leading sport and hunting manufacturers nationwide
