SOS Gambling Addiction is a collaborative information and support initiative developed by 17 German-speaking cantons. Its website helps people understand gambling-related harm and find assistance, whether they are concerned about their own gambling or supporting a family member. The resource explains gambling addiction, online and illegal gambling, risk factors, possible consequences, and ways to discuss concerns. Visitors can take a self-test to reflect on their gambling behaviour and read first-person accounts from people affected.
SOS Gambling Addiction connects users with several forms of help. Its 24-hour telephone counselling line is free and anonymous, but operates only in German. Online counselling is also free and accepts questions about addiction; responses are generally provided within two working days and are most likely to be in German. The site additionally directs visitors to regional counselling centres, where an interpreter may often be arranged on request. Further guidance covers relatives and parents, debt, and gambling bans.
