About SOS-Forêts
SOS-Forêts is a non-denominational association operating as a non-governmental organization. Founded on March 16, 1996, and registered under Ivorian law, this organization is dedicated to the protection of forests and their resources. Over the years, SOS-Forêts has expanded its focus to address new environmental challenges, such as the conservation of bird habitats, marine turtles, key biodiversity areas, and the equitable sharing of benefits from genetic resources.
They also engage in initiatives such as the APV-FLEGT process and the REDD+ mechanism. The main objectives of SOS-Forêts are to combat biodiversity degradation, rehabilitate forest ecosystems, gather valuable data on natural resources, and propose innovative strategies for sustainable resource management in Côte d'Ivoire. With a dedicated team, including experienced professionals like Dr.
Kamelan and DIABATÉ Maboridjon, SOS-Forêts works towards its mission of protecting the forests and biodiversity of Côte d'Ivoire by raising awareness among local communities about the importance of sustainable resource consumption
